Welcome to Elkader's Sister Cities Friendship Club
The Sister Cities Friendship Club of Elkader invites you to read its story to learn how a small community of some 1500 inhabitants can positively affect the world by promoting peaceful projects with the citizens of Mascara, Algeria. Elkader, Iowa is one of the smallest cities in the Sister Cities movement and is currently the only U.S. city to have a sister city in Algeria. Northeast Iowa residents will have an opportunity to experience another cultural treat and witness another chapter of history in the making as Elkader’s friend and author John Kiser and new Algerian Ambassador to the U.S. Abdallah Baali visit Elkader, Iowa, on Monday & Tuesday, May 11, 12. Both are looking forward to getting to know the area and its people of all ages. They will tour the community and the school and be honored guests at various events. See event details.
