Elkader Area Chamber of Commerce Current Projects
Your Elkader Area Chamber of Commerce works throughout the year to promote the business community, welcome and assist new businesses, help make the community more festive, support community and county projects, and bring entertainment to the community.

•The Elkader Chamber Golf Tournament, an annual fund raising event, is organized and hosted by the Chamber in July.
•We purchase and raise American and Welcome flags to celebrate holidays and community events.
•The Chamber maintains a fund to assist in the purchase of new Christmas pole decorations.
•We welcome new businesses to the area. Three new businesses have opened their doors in 2008. Four new businesses were welcomed in 2007. In addition to welcomes, the Chamber sponsors After 5 events to introduce the community to new business owners and their facilities.
•Chamber Bucks are sold through the Chamber office. Thousands of dollars of Chamber Bucks are sold each year which are then spent in the community.
•We promote Elkader as a visitor and retail destination by joining with the Retail Committee for summer promotions to draw in visitors from around the region. We also place advertising in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald’s Vacationland Issue. We partner with the Retail Committee for Holiday promotions and donate to the Holiday promotions fund. Donations are made to the Elkader Retail Committee to assist in other advertising efforts.
•Our membership in the Eastern Iowa Tourism Association provides additional tourist exposure for the community.
•We collaborate with EDC and Main Street to fund shuttle busses for Osborne Heritage Days, print the Elkader brochure which is distributed throughout the state, and purchase banners for the downtown area.
•We participate in the steering committee for Elkader's Cultural and Entertainment District.
•Elkader Commemorative Ornaments are ordered and sold.
•Donations are made to support projects which enhance the business and residential community such as Elkader Sweet Corn Days, Clayton County Food Shelf, Clayton County Conservation Board, Clayton County Development Group and the Elkader Childcare and Learning Center.
•The Chamber Secretary serves all inquiries to the Chamber’s phone, fax and email. Elkader informational packets are sent to interested individuals.
