4th Annual Abdelkader Education Project Forum & Awards Ceremony
Location: Elkader Opera House, 207 N. Main St. The Abdelkader Education Forum will honor an extraordinary world hero and students who have been touched by his life story. The 2012 Abdelkader student essay awards will be presented. The program features notable speakers and cultural entertainment. Forum schedule: 1:30 p.m. Doors Open — "meet & greet" with live music - River Connections Jazz Band; 2:00 p.m. Program begins — Abdelkader Essay Contest awards & guest speakers; Special Guest performance by Nassima Chabane (Andalusian music by well-known Algerian singer and musician). Reception and discussions follow program with refreshments on stage. Everyone is welcome! |

Dueling Pianos Fundraiser for Elkader Playground Equipment
Location: Johnson's Reception Hall, High St., Elkader. The Families for Elkader Parks & Playgrounds Committee will be hosting the Andy Anderson & Mike Leeds Dueling Pianos. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to purchase new playground equipment for the new park in the area flooded in 2008. Doors open at 6:30 PM and Dueling Pianos begin at 8:00 PM (18+ Show). Tickets are on sale now at these locations in Elkader: FreedomBank, Fenelly’s Irish Pub, Alpine Communications, and Elkader City Hall. Advanced tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $18 per person. Each ticket includes a special 2-for-1 drink coupon that can be redeemed the day of the show at Fenelly’s Irish Pub, Drew’s Bar and Grill, and Schera’s Restaurant and Bar. If you’ve never been to a dueling pianos show, you are in for a real treat. It’s high-energy, request-driven entertainment. Through an audience-driven show, they encourage their diverse crowds to sing and dance along to popular songs that everyone knows and loves. They specialize in Top 40 pop-rock hits but their motto is jokingly “We will attempt any song you throw our way!” VIP Table sponsorship opportunities are still available. VIP table sponsors will receive 10 tickets at a reserved table with special recognition and signage at the event.
